Littleton, CO – Sherpa 6, Inc., a service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB), announced today that the U.S. Department of Labor has honored the company with the 2025 HIRE Vets Medallion Platinum Award, the federal government’s highest-level recognition for employers who demonstrate exemplary commitment to recruiting, employing, and retaining America’s veterans.
This recognition marks the second year Sherpa 6 has been honored through the HIRE Vets Medallion Program, and it reflects the company’s continued growth from a 2023 Gold-level recipient to a Platinum-level awardee in 2025. The HIRE Vets Medallion Program is the only federal-level award that evaluates employers on quantitative measures of veteran hiring and retention, as well as on the depth of their veteran-focused integration, professional development, and support programs.
To earn the Platinum Medallion, employers must meet higher thresholds for veteran hiring and retention and, for small and medium employers, maintain a workforce in which veterans make up at least 10 percent of employees. Platinum awardees must also demonstrate robust integration and assistance programs, such as veteran employee resource groups, leadership development initiatives, and policies that include pay differential and tuition assistance to support veterans’ long-term career success.
“At Sherpa 6, veterans are not just part of our story; they are the foundation of our mission and the reason our solutions deliver real-world impact for Warfighters and national security partners,” said Joe Dames, CEO of Sherpa 6. “Receiving the HIRE Vets Medallion Platinum Award affirms that our commitment to hiring, developing, and retaining veterans is keeping pace with our growth as a company and with the evolving needs of our customers.”
Veterans are represented across Sherpa 6 in engineering, product development, field support, and leadership roles, where their operational insight shapes the company’s work in advanced communications, tactical integration, and mission-critical enterprise solutions. The company complements this experience with structured onboarding, mentorship, and leadership opportunities tailored specifically to veterans who are transitioning from military service to long-term technology and engineering careers.
Sherpa 6’s veteran-focused culture extends beyond hiring metrics and emphasizes career pathways, continued education, and an internal community that connects veterans and military families across locations and programs. By coupling veteran talent with innovative engineering practices, Sherpa 6 delivers systems and services that reduce the burden and enhance performance of warfighters on the battlefield.
