🚀 Exciting News! 🚀

Last summer, Sherpa 6 was awarded a contract by Army DEVCOM C5ISR Center to develop and test a frequency diverse private 5G system alongside a non-traditional mmWave solution. This effort explores the feasibility of using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions to enhance situational awareness and communication capabilities for Warfighting functions.

This project is an essential step forward in advancing tactical communication technologies for military operations. It includes multiple 5G radios, a meshed mmWave system, open standards infrastructure, and management through Sherpa 6’s Watchtower platform. We're also experimenting with cutting-edge antenna designs to support on-the-move operations.

💡 This testing is vital in evaluating how private 5G systems can improve battlefield communication, offering insights into network reliability, latency, bandwidth, and scalability under dynamic conditions. This data will help determine the system's readiness for full-scale deployment, potentially transforming how Warfighters connect and operate in complex environments.

Sherpa 6 Awarded $1.9M Army SBIR Phase II Contract for TAKPro to Enhance Soldier Efficiency and Lethality

Littleton, CO – May 22, 2024 – We are thrilled to announce that Sherpa 6, Inc. has been awarded a $1.9M contract from the Department of the Army's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program for further development of our Tactical Assault Kit Proficiency (TAKPro) system. This Phase II SBIR award, following the success of our Phase I contract, runs from March 2024 through September 2025.

TAKPro extends Sherpa 6’s Watchtower Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution, which supports provisioning and monitoring the EUDs that make up the TAK ecosystem for both military and civilian users. Watchtower has demonstrated its utility as a fielded EMM solution with more than 40,000 users to date, making it an ideal solution to facilitate the collection and visualization of insights as it relates to Soldier proficiency. TAKPro aims to increase Soldier proficiency in ATAK by tracking user progress over time when interacting with Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK) and then generating performance analytics for identifying areas of weakness, making it easier for key leaders to customize training to suit the needs of Soldiers.

TAKPro leverages advanced Machine Learning (ML) to help Soldiers maintain a constant state of readiness with agility and proficiency when using ATAK. ATAK is a Command and Control (C2), SA, and mission planning mobile device application used by over 400 military and public safety organizations.

Meet Yamae, a Systems Integrator at Sherpa 6. Her running journey began in high school, through the Marines, and continues today. She ran many marathons, including an Ultra Marathon 50k in November 2020. Running has taught her that if she is disciplined and consistent, she can do things she never thought possible. Meet Sarah, a UX/UI Engineer at Sherpa 6! She is passionate about staying active and loves finding new ways to challenge herself. Having been involved in martial arts for over half her life, beginning with training in karate as a kid, she now focuses her training in Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu. Meet Ashlea, a Systems Integrator here at Sherpa 6 who also enjoys rock climbing. She has always had an interest in rock climbing since a young age, however, it wasn’t until she was stationed in Hawaii while in the military that she really got into it. Sundays are for climbing and she and her friends love to climb a mountainside known as Mokuleia. After climbing they head to the beach to relax. Ashlea loves the feeling of accomplishment that climbing brings to her.

The need to communicate quicker is gradually transforming how soldiers operate and how the military is assembled. According to the Commanding General of the U.S. Army’s I Corps. "The Army is going to start changing the way their organizations are built to take advantage of what they can do," Lt. Gen. Xavier Brunson told reporters on October 10th on the sidelines of the Association of the U.S. Army annual conference. He states that, “What is also really interesting about our Army as we go forward in this data-centric environment is people are going to do different things. Organizations are going to change.” An array of advanced technologies are being developed to decipher an abundance of battlefield data.

The Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS), a Microsoft HoloLens tailored specifically for the military, is meant to change how Soldiers train, communicate and fight. Throughout the UX and UI process, the team researches, ideates, prototypes, and tests products for our customers. Researching gives us the opportunity to learn about our users and customers needs, taking time to solve a problem. Through ideation, we form a hypothesis about how to solve the problem at hand and by prototyping, we create a prototype and develop a working solution. It is through testing that the team Is able to validate the working prototype with users. From being tested in minus 30 degree Fahrenheit, the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) is now being tested in 90 degrees. Back-to-back testing in extreme weather allows the Army to see how the IVAS goggles function in all conditions. This time, the goggles are being tested by the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Camp Santiago’s Joint Readiness Training Center in Puerto Rico. Check out this article to read more.

The Army is finally getting its futuristic heads-up display into more soldiers’ hands this year. The system will provide troops with augmented reality — a technology that overlays digital information onto the screen soldiers are looking through while wearing the goggles — for training and on-the-spot language translations; high-resolution night and thermal sensors; facial recognition software; and the ability to see what a location or objective looks like before they get there. It will even give soldiers the ability to see outside of a vehicle before they exit, providing greater awareness of what they’re walking into.

Sherpa 6, Inc.

During this past holiday season, Sherpa 6 was able to support an Afghanistan refugee family during Thanksgiving as well as a second family local to Denver during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It was truly a group effort to provide these families with the resources to have a memorable Holiday Season.
