Octavio Mota
I’m a first generation born American from a Hispanic family of 7. My social background includes growing up in lower-income communities. I married my High School sweetheart and we have been married for over 10 years and have one son. My wife, now a veteran, works for the Intelligence Community as a Defense Contractor.
Like any married person, I owe a lot to my spouse, for I wish it on no one what we have had to endure: homelessness, couch surfing, me having to eat off of people’s plates at the University of South Carolina just to ensure there was enough money for food at home, and so on. I still can’t express how much support she has given and what she means to me.
I have worked in various professions at an early age for obvious reasons: horse bedding, cucumber and watermelon picking, commercial construction, and as retail store manager for Sprint.
I was in the AF for 5 years as an enlisted logistician and went to the reserves and then the guard during my last year to finish my degrees.
After graduation, I attempted a career in hospital administration, but soon after beginning, my discontent with the career and that social life grew. My wife and I joined the Army at the same time. I served as a Signal Officer in Cyber Centers supporting DoD and 3 letter agencies and most recently the Signal Company Commander for 2nd BCT in 82nd ABN DIV and BN S6 in 2nd SFAB.
Now, after 14 years of serving, I’m a Deputy Program Manager and Network Solutions Architect for Sherpa 6.
I’ve found I enjoy investing in and beginning businesses. I own and co-own several existing businesses which include buying and holding real estate (residential and commercial), wholesaling real estate, running a luxury car rental business, a rental arbitrage company, and a flipping company.
I’m also working towards a vintage K-9 product using military tactical material and running a call center in Mexico that will focus on real estate initially. Lastly, I’m on the hunt to create a unique dating application (patent pending) with several software/application engineers.
I also have a podcast with David Pere, named Military to Millionaire. You can watch it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EoyYQHoC1o
I truly find it fulfilling to support the warfighter as well as others who may have had the same walks in life as I have.
